Penny Black multiple use six pence rate on cover, sent March 4th 1841 from Prestonkirk to Edinburgh, originally containing a draft letter for approval, the 6d rate paid by a strip of six penny blacks SG2 (Spec AS5) plate 1b (LG-LL) tied by clear strikes of the black Maltese Crosses of Presetonkirk, backstamped at both Prestonkirk and Edinburgh on March 4th.L-H stamp crossed by filling fold. Ex Alan Holyoake coll. from the International Grand Prix winning exhibit and illustrated in The World's First Postage Stamp book, an exceptionally scarce piece with accompanying B.P.A certificate
